Policies and Promises

Environmental Policy

At Swingmor, we take a comprehensive, lifecycle-based approach to minimizing our environmental impact while producing sustainable golf apparel. Our environmental policy is built around responsible design, ethical supply chains, and thoughtful operations that support regeneration over exploitation.

Closing the Cycle

We reduce our footprint by:

  • Using 6x less water/10x less land than cotton-based alternative garments through our use of precision engineered wood fibres (Tencel™ Lyocell) in ALL of our garments.
  • Avoiding the use of pesticides, herbicides, and synthetic fertilizers which are used to grow cotton fibres. We ONLY use Tencel natural wood-based fibre from PEFC/FSC certified sustainable forests in the EU.
  • Avoiding the use of toxic chemicals associated with the production processing of cotton, bamboo, or hemp fabrics. We only use Tencel fibres which are manufactured from wood using non-toxic processing chemicals with closed loop recovery ( >99% efficient).
  • Avoiding oil-based synthetic fibres and prioritizing natural regenerative materials (we allow up to 6% synthetic elastane fibres in our blends – a sustainable compromise which increases durability and performance).
  • Designing for durability, repair, and second life through our guaranteed buyback scheme and through re-use, re-purpose, and return to nature recycling.
  • Using regenerative natural materials for packaging. Minimising transportation and ensuring greater transparency using localised supply chains (Europe/UK) from fibre, to fabric, to garment.
  • Reduce last mile delivery impact through space saving packaging and using net-zero aligned delivery partners.
  • Conducting lifecycle assessments via the Higg Index Product Module to understand and improve product impacts.

Green Working Practices

Our internal operations reflect our values. We implement:

  • Renewable energy (onsite and sourcing) in facilities.
  • Recycling programs.
  • Responsible e-waste disposal.
  • Energy-efficient buildings, equipment and processes.
  • Environmentally preferred vendors for all purchases including vehicles, office supplies, and consumables.

Product Impact and Offsetting

All our fabrics are certified to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX and manufactured in accord with ISO 14001 for responsible environmental management and ISO 9001 quality standard. During product development, we assess and act on carbon, water, land-use, and waste metrics. Once impacts are minimized through the design of the garments and business operations, we offset the remaining footprint through tree planting, water projects, CO2 drawdown projects, above living wage pay, and taxable contributions. This positive balance is visually displayed on every product page, reflecting our promise that every item of golf clothing we create does more good than bad.

Specific Environmental Offsetting:

·        We offset residual carbon emissions (scope 1, 2 and 3) from our operations and value chain by purchasing high quality carbon credits. We source nature-based carbon removal projects with verified carbon storage and low reversal risk - verified by world leading standards (Verra/Gold Standard/American Carbon Registry). The cost of carbon credits is not included as charitable giving in our calculations.

·        We offset residual land-use through charitable giving to the woodland trust, the UK's largest woodland conservation charity, dedicated to protecting and restoring native trees and woodlands for the benefit of people and nature. We donate at least £1,000 per acre of land-use (based on the opportunity cost of arable land in UK/Europe).

·        We offset residual water use though charitable giving to Wateraid an international non-profit organization dedicated to making clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene accessible to everyone, everywhere. We donate at least £2.5 per cubic metre of water-use (based on the market rate for clean water in the United Kingdom and average externality costs of water use).

Commitments

We promise we will always walk a softer path by minimizing the environmental impact of our operations and our products.

We promise we will avoid resource-intensive materials and wasteful business practices that compromise the wellbeing of people or the planet.
